HAPPENING MINISTRIES

Happening started in the Roman Catholic Church in Spain (as Cursillo), and was brought to South Africa from the Episcopalian (Anglican) Church
in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, U.S.A.
In 1981 a team, led Revd Scott Wilson, came St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Orchards.
Since then, more than 8000 young people as well as hundreds of mums and dads and clergy, in nine Dioceses
have found a new experience of the Holy Spirit through Happening.

Caritas: A Latin word meaning `Love’ or `Gift’

Butterfly: We are all small and appear to be the same (like the caterpillar),
but as we grow older our true beauty shows (like the butterfly).
Like a butterfly, we are all different, and beautiful in our own way.
The metamorphosis a butterfly undergoes is symbolic of the spiritual growth we all as Christians go through.

Rainbows: A symbol of God’s love for us and His covenant to His people. See Genesis 9:12- 17

Fuzzes: A symbol of our love for each other. Like love, the fuzzes must be shared otherwise they will turn into cold prickles.

Daisies: A free growing wild flower that reminds if 3 things:

The flowers bloom together, like we did on Happening!
The petals radiate from the centre outwards – like us radiating from God’s Grace
The flowers scatter their seeds – we must sow and bloom where God plants us.

Come off at the Bunyan / Tom Jones off ramp.

Up Bunyan towards Kempton Park, (Away from Benoni Town)

Through Main Rd / Fifth Ave, the traffic lights where Bunyan and Tom Jones becomes The Great North Road

Up the Great North

Past Wordworth High School on the left

Through Web / Cloudy Street, (the Falls Shopping centre on the right)

Through Kei / Hospital road (Medi-Cross on the left and Police training College on the right)

Through Oak Rd

Through Mercury St / Mimosa St (KFC on the left)

Through Celia Nestadt Rd ("O" Reilly Merry) (On the left equestrian centre, horse centre)

Through Brentwood Park / High Rd (Church with thatch roof on the left)

Past Road No 3 Just after or just before Portuguese Roman Catholic Church on the left

Just past Manny's Hardware on the Right

Turn Left into Road No 5

Down the road for about for about 50 Metres on dirt road turn right.

Past first gate and left into eMseni Methodist Retreat Centre on the left.
