For every day that goes by we achieve, we smile, we regret, and sometimes we even cry. But the most important thing is, we learn

St Dunstan's home groups meet at different times, on different days. There are groups that meet in the evenings, and some that meet during the day. There are bible study groups, as well as groups which study recommended books. Some groups meet throughout the year, others only seasonally - so there is something for everyone! All members are encouraged to join a home group. Anyone interested can contact the church office, or any of the co-ordinators:

The next study season begins at Lent, and the book recommended is "Opening to God, a guide to prayer". Some comments on the book are - "More and more frequently the chaplain or parish priest is asked What is prayer? Will it help me? How do you pray anyway?..... this book is attractive to people who need God, seek God, and are asking how to communicate with him."

"Opening to God is a book born of prayer and one destined to benefit those hungry for prayer. In its reading one will inevitably discover new and deep dimensions of response to the Lord."

A Testimonial

Good morning

Last year, I joined a home group for the first time in this parish. There were two reasons why I joined, -

The first was as a Lenten discipline, - I felt it would do me more good spiritually than just giving up the usual “favourite” item. It is a time to draw closer to God, and it helps to keep my focus on the preparation for Easter.

The second reason was, that as a new parishioner, I felt that I needed to become more involved in the St. Dunstans life, and it was a good opportunity to meet some of the people in the congregation. I was coming to church every Sunday, and sitting in the same pew, amongst the same faces, and not really knowing who they were.

Initially, I had only intended joining for one season, but after that season, the next one started, and I had enjoyed the first one so much that I participated in the next one.

Steven Covey said that if we want to be effective people there is a need to “sharpen the sword”. It is not good enough to just believe in God, it is necessary to work at ones faith to keep it strong. Whilst I enjoy the Sunday services and the sermons, I have found that my understanding of various aspects of scripture has been broadened by attending a home group, and discussing different points of view with the members of the group, some of whom are further along the Christian pathway than I am.

I have met some really amazing people, whose warmth, and friendship, and support, and understanding have become an important part in my life.

I really feel like I am now part of the family, - and am glad to make my contribution to the needs of the family and the parish as a whole, and to know that in doing so I am serving God.
